The concept combines is a commercial ship character with a comfortable – not lavish – interior. The idea being, many owners and charterers desire the “venturing experience”, but not the bling or high-profile drama of a superyacht. Crucially, this approach opens the door to cost-saving in areas like finishes and deck outfit, with the lack of opulence being appropriate to the ship’s appearance.

With 185,000 litres (48,872 gallons) of fuel, giving up to 5000 miles range and therefore a potential endurance of 25 days at sea, means significant provisioning will be the order of the day.

A heavy ice-class welded steel hull offers the peace-of-mind for blue water, or polar seas.

Destinations such as the Svalbard Archipelago – the most northern point in Europe – offers thrilling landscapes and wildlife.

The At-Anchor four-fin stabiliser system is a proven method to deliver additional guest and crew comfort.

Safety being paramount, the emergency life raft system includes “hold-in-place” davits, for the best security while boarding.

Large and varied deck spaces will permit guests an optimal experience, whether they seek quietude, or social interaction.

The tender hangar provides space for two 10.5 (34 foot) tenders, deployed by the 15-ton “robo-crane”. The deck of the hangar will be optionally designed for helicopter touch-and-go operations.

The shape and design of the “security stern” is conceived as a light deterrent for uninvited visitors. Note the closed “shell doors” on the hull aft, which lead to the Beach Club.

The preliminary underbody concept includes roll stabilisers, fixed skegs, high-skew propellers, a substantial keel, and hi-lift ice-class rudders. These elements are conceived with robustness in mind, knowing the yacht builder, client, and others may prefer other solutions, e.g. azipod propulsion.

The Dining Hall is a flexible space with moveable, modular furnishings. This will permit arrangements catering to functions such a formal dining, lectures, informal meals, or “internet lounge” mode (shown.)

The Beach Club has a range of amenities, including three exterior entrances plus two internal entries, lounge area, masseuse centre, Norwegian Bastu sauna, powder room, and refreshments bar.

Upper Deck lounge will be the ideal relaxation zone for various times of day. Amenities include a juice bar that would likely also serve cocktails.

This presentation is an outline design that awaits further development by the yacht builder, expert hydrodynamicists and performance specialists to optimise characteristics guided by the owner’s wishes. As ever, the hullform’s balance between speed, comfort, endurance, and range, can and should be adjusted to the anticipated cruising programme.
